THE SPIRIT OF ABSALOM

Absalom was the third son of King David (2Samuel 3:3). He was known for his disloyalty, betrayal, wickedness, revenge, rebellion, strive, chaos and confusion. He was never a peaceful man as his name implies. An Absalom spirit is a spirit of disloyalty, betrayal, strive, division, rebellion, revenge, confusion, pride etc. People possessed with Absalom spirit often search for value in personal pursuits rather than in God. They frequently imagine they deserve more recognition than what their achievements merit. (2 Samuel 18:18 )

They also believe they can do your job better than you. In time, such people become disloyal and betray you by killing your influence among as many friends, customers or followers as possible. It is similar to Lucifer’s betrayal of God, and his capturing the hearts of one-third of the angelic forces.

If you’re a pastor, leader, or business owner, you cannot indulge an unrepentant person who carries this Absalom spirit. You cannot afford to leave an arrogant Absalom-type in any position of authority in your church or your business. Jesus should have preeminence, not an Absalom spirit.

SIGNS OF THE SPIRIT OF ABSALOM

  1. They have big unfulfilled dreams and end up blaming others for your failure
  2. They feel their wisdom, contributions and gifts are ignored.
  3. They are critics- always have a way of judging things according to their own perspective
  4. Harbors bitterness, unresolved offenses and anger
  5. Desire to be in command (2Samuel 15:4)
  6. Master manipulator (2Samuel 15:2)
  7. Crafty
  8. Exhibit false humility
  9. He is a proud man and believes he is wiser and better than the leader
  10. Search for value in personal pursuit than in God
  11. Self-centered (2Samuel 18:18).
  12. A man with hidden agenda

 

CAUSES OF ABSALOM SPIRIT

  1. Greed
  2. Quest for power.
  3. Frustration.
  4. Anger.
  5. Easily passes false judgment.
  6. Hidden agenda. 2 Samuel 13:22

 

EFFECTS OF POSSESSING THE ABSALOM SPIRIT

  1. It brings division in homes and churches.
  2. Hatred.
  3. Unforgiveness.
  4. Bitterness.
  5. Murder.

 

WAYS TO AVOID ABSALOM SPIRIT

  1. Submission to constituted authority. Be a good follower to your leader and try not to pull down the government. Titus 3: 1
  2. Be teachable.
  3. Avoid revenge. Have a forgiving spirit. Romans 12: 19, 1 Peter 2:23
  4. Make endeavors to be sincere, transparent, and open-minded.
  5. Show love and be supportive. 1 John 4:8,16

 

PRAYERS AGAINST THE SPIRIT OF ABSALOM

  1. Thank you sweet Jesus for the prompting to pray and the ability to wake up from spiritual laziness in Jesus name.
  2. Father, l open up to you. I declare, search me, know my thoughts and prove me. If there is any evil in me according to the spirit of Absalom, wash me and cleanse me in the name of Jesus. Amen. Ps.139:23
  3. I decree and declare restoration of my life to be Christlike. I do not belong to any hidden life, whether in the likeness of any evil spirit and their manifestations in the name of Jesus.
  4. I denounce every trait of the spirit of Absalom lurking up in my heart. Father, send by thy hand and pull out your people who have been drowned by the spirit of Absalom in the name of Jesus.
  5. Dear Lord deliver your ministers from vanity and deception that leads to destruction in the name of Jesus.
  6. Father let your fire fall and devour the seat of Absalom spirit opposing my breakthrough and progress in the name of Jesus.
  7. Father let your fire fall and devour every Absalom spirit that wants me to labour in vain and also die shamefully in the name of Jesus.
  8. In the name of Jesus Christ, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, let the fire of God’s judgment destroy the spirit of Absalom that wants to pollute my character, destiny, and identity.
  9. I reject every cloak or garment of the spirit of Absalom handed over to me or kept for me through my unsubmission, ancestry or places where l have made spiritual and physical contact in the name of Jesus.
  10. In the name of Jesus, l pull myself out from every association that l may have joined or about to be joined which will link me with the spirit of Absalom. [Demonstrate the pulling out as a prophetic action}.

PSALM 139:23 “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; (NKJV).

  1. Father l open up to you, I declare, search me, know my thoughts and prove me. If there is any evil in me according to the spirit of Absalom, wash me and cleanse me in the name of Jesus. Amen.
  2. Dear Lord, pass through my life with your rod of deliverance and pull me out of the powers that are stronger than me in the name of Jesus.
  3. Any part of my life that is hidden from you oh Lord, let your light expose it in the Mighty Name of Jesus Amen!
  4. Father, bow down the heavens and touch the mountains and they shall smoke. Shake out all that are not of you in the church. Deliver the church from the spirit of Absalom in the name of Jesus Amen.
  5. Father, cast forth lightnings, scatter and destroy the spirit of Absalom that have risen against the youths {include yourself} in the name of Jesus.

1 JOHN 4:8 “He who does not love does not know God, for God is love”. (NKJV)

  1. Holy Spirit of the living God, please pour out your spirit of love upon my life so I can love the way Jesus do.
  2. I denounce every trait of the spirit of Absalom lurking up in my heart in Jesus Mighty Name Amen.
  3. Father, let thy mighty hand pull me out from the spirit of Absalom in Jesus Name Amen.
  4. Jehovah Gibbor, deliver your people who have been drowned by the spirit of Absalom in the name of Jesus.

2 SAMUEL 18:14 “Then Joab said, “I cannot linger with you.” And he took three spears in his hand and thrust them through Absalom’s heart, while he was still alive in the midst of the terebinth tree. 15 And ten young men who bore Joab’s armor surrounded Absalom, and struck and killed him”. (NKJV)

  1. Father, let your fire fall and devour every Absalom spirit that want me to labour in vain and also die shamefully in the name of Jesus.
  2. In the name of Jesus Christ, and by the power of the Holy Spirit, let the fire of God’s judgment destroy the spirit of Absalom that want to pollute my character, destiny and identity.
  3. I reject every cloak or garment of the spirit of Absalom handed over to me or kept for me through my unsubmission, ancestry or places where l have made spiritual and physical contact in the name of Jesus.
  4. In the name of Jesus, l pull myself out from every association that l may have joined or about to be joined which will link me with the spirit of Absalom. [Demonstrate the pulling out as a prophetic action}.
  5. I renounce every covenant and legal grounds that the spirit of Absalom has over me and by the power of God I put to death Absalom spirit by hanging in the mighty name of Jesus.
  6. l declare that l belong to the Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, Father open my eyes to see if there is any spirit of Absalom that is in the place where l have found comfort and rest. Let such be uprooted in the name of Jesus amen.
