DEALING WITH IDOL WORSHIP

Idol worship is simply ct of reverence to an image carved out of wood. Further, it can also be seen when you value something/someone or showing love, respect, adoration to a particular thing/person ie material things, money, food, husband, wife, children, etc. Idolatry connotes the worship of something or someone as God. Through idols, demonic spirits operate. These spirits from satanic kingdom are passed from the idols to the worshiper. This is the reason someone who worships an idol is possessed by the demon of that idol and he/she finds it difficult to detach from the idol. It is only the power of Jesus Christ that can open the eyes of such a person and reveal to him/her that he/she has been worshiping an idol.

Idols are nothing, immobile, always a burden because you carry them anywhere you go, they don’t save, they don’t give satisfaction, they don’t give joy and happiness. The Bible says we should love God with all our heart, serve Him with all of our minds and soul (Deuteronomy 11:13). But if you see yourself not doing this and you pay more attention to your business, career, etc, more than God, whatever thing that has taken the place of God in your heart or life is an idol to you, so detach from it and ask God for mercy. He is faithful and just to forgive you.

SIGNS OF IDOL WORSHIP

  1. Pride – when you don’t need God to control your life. (Isaiah 2:11)
  2. Lust – (Matthew 5:27-28)
  3. Self- when you see your own wealth and satisfaction in life (Matthew 6:33)
  4. Entertainment (Colossians 3:17)
  5. Rules – when you allow your own opinions and standards to influence the way you approach and worship God (Mark 7:8-9,13)
  6. Hatred and bitterness (Ephesians 4:26-27)
  7. Fear and worry- when you are always afraid and worried about life, it drives you to seek help elsewhere. (Philippians 4:6)
  8. Love for worldly possessions (1John 2:15)
  9. Wickedness

 

EFFECTS OF IDOL WORSHIP

  1. Setback
  2. Failure
  3. Hatred
  4. Sadist
  5. Spiritual darkness
  6. Unfruitful
  7. Backwardness
  8. Stunted growth
  9. Sickness
  10. Spiritual death

 

REMEDY FROM IDOL WORSHIP

  1. Sincere and complete repentance. Forsake and denounce the idol and the practical worship of it.
  2. Destroy anything in your possession that stands as a contact point to the idol.
  3. Proclaim Jesus as your Lord and saviour. Invite Him to find a dwelling place in you.

 

PRAYERS FOR REPENTANCE FROM IDOL WORSHIP

  1. Thanks be to God almighty, who has given me the privilege and opportunity to see this day.
  2. I bless your holy name faithful Father, for your mercy and loving-kindness which kept me (us) to this day.
  3. 3. By your mercy oh God, fortify me today so that I will stand unshakeable as I make this prayer in Jesus name amen.
  4. 4. Today, Lord I acknowledge that I am a sinner, I have rebelled against you by not obeying your commands and decrees (Daniel9:5-6)
  5. Father, I come home to you as your prodigal child, forsaking my idolatrous ways to seek your face and your mercy, please do not cast me away or turn your face away from me dear Lord (Psalm51:11).
  1. I plead the precious Blood of Jesus upon my life and family.
  2. Let the precious Blood of Jesus cleanse me from every filthiness and uncleanliness that I may be made whole again.
  3. Today, I decree in the name of Jesus that I am delivered and I am victorious by the Blood of Jesus from idolatry in Jesus name amen (Revelation12:11).
  4. By the power of the Holy Ghost, I pull down altars that have been raised with my name or family’s name for us to worship, today oh Lord, I say no to such worship in Jesus name.
  5. Today in the name of Jesus, I reject and renounce every covenant I made in my days of ignorance, and decree it shall not have any hedge over my life and family in Jesus name.
  6. Thank  you God for answering my prayers through Jesus Christ our Lord amen.

EXODUS 20:3-6 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. (NKJV).

  1. I repent of every association that l am involved with which has opened me up to idol practices and worship {spiritually or physically} knowingly or unknowingly, in the name of Jesus Christ Amen
  2. Oh Lord, purge me of every wickedness,  I repent of being part of any false teaching, preaching, and demonic doctrines, in the name of Jesus Christ Amen
  1. I stand in the name of Jesus to uproot completely, every inherited flow of evil influence, character or mindset that promotes idol worship in my life and family today. I declare, be uprooted by fire in the name of Jesus Christ Amen
  2. I plead the blood of Jesus over my foundation, to wipe off the force of idolatry in my life and family in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
  3. I plead the blood of Jesus over my spirit, soul, and body and over those of every member of my family, and over my properties and everything that concerns me in the name of Jesus Christ.  I declare that every trace of idol worship, worship of material things, and anything that has taken the place of God in my  life be erased by the blood of Jesus Christ Amen
  4. I speak the power of the blood into force into the foundations of my ancestry, into my destiny, and my family in the name of Jesus Christ.  I declare that l am purified and cleansed from the spirit of idolatry and mammon in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.

Psalms 135:5″For I know that the LORD is great, And our Lord is above all gods.”

  1. I decree and declare that my worship is to God alone, not to man, satan, or to any idol and nothing will stop me from serving the Lord God Almighty, in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
  2. I denounce any worship to evil spirits, known and unknown deities, by me or my ancestors. I nullify every covenant my ancestors have entered involving me or any member of my family in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
  3. Father, cause the satanic strings and oracles of my father’s house to lose their grip over my life by fire. I decree my freedom from their grips in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
  4. I speak as the redeemed of the Lord that nothing will link me with any strange altar or demonic shrines and their occult activities in the name of Jesus Christ Amen.
